Information the app handles

Framelet handles the screen area you select, captured images and videos, your edits, settings such as image quality, and access to the save location you choose. macOS Screen Recording permission is required to record your screen. Framelet does not record audio.

Storage and network connections

Images, videos, and project files are saved on your Mac or in a location you choose. Framelet does not upload images or videos to Carpellia’s servers, display ads, or use in-app analytics. If you save to iCloud Drive or a similar service, files sync according to that service’s settings.

Apple manages distribution and updates for the Mac App Store edition. The website edition uses Sparkle to check for updates. It connects to Carpellia’s HTTPS distribution service, sends the app version and macOS version, and downloads new versions. It does not send a detailed system profile. Your captures and edits are never included in update checks. You can turn off automatic checks and downloads in the Framelet menu. Cloudflare, our delivery provider, processes standard access information such as IP addresses.

Deleting files and revoking permissions

You can delete saved images, videos, and project files in Finder or another file manager. Editing does not automatically delete the original capture. You can revoke Screen Recording permission in macOS System Settings and change the save location in the Framelet menu. Project files contain the original, unprocessed image, so export to PNG, JPEG, WebP, or another image format when sharing an image.
